Average RPM's

Asked by Barb Nov 13, 2015 at 12:33 AM about the 2002 Nissan Frontier 2 Dr XE King Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Nissan Frontier 4 cylinder
stick shift truck. I am wondering what the
RPM' should be at 80 mph. I recently had
the fuel filter, that was clogged horribly,
replaced. I've noticed the RPM's seem to be
a little higher. The truck is in immaculate
shape with only approximately 88,000
miles.
Thanks in advance,
B.

Depending on the gearing you would be running around 3,000 rpm. The only way the engine RPM's would go up at a given speed would be if the clutch was slipping.

Ok, great! It sounds like I'll be ok, but I will watch the clutch for any differences just in case. Thank you for your response. :-)
