Help!! 2002 Nissan Altima

I have a Nissan Altima 2.5 year 2002 the car cranks
but when I press the gas the car cut off, kinda like
it's out of gas. It spurders and dies after it shuts off
it takes a while to start back if it even does.
Anyone have any idea?

The only thing that worries me I forgot to mention it over heated once a couple days before it died but it never got real hot

I parked it as soon as it happened! I'm just looking to get other opinions about it other than what I have been thinking.
