Vibration at 40 to 55 and rf wheel hot

Asked by Stephroth5683 Feb 17, 2020 at 04:09 PM about the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox 1.5T LT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced all brakes rotors and calipers and balance
on tires is good. When accelerating at around 40 to 55
mph feels like my front end is shaking.  Including steering
wheel. When I let off the gas it gets better.  When you get
out the rf wheel is hot. Any ideas?

You may have gotten a bad caliper from the parts store... not unheard of... i've gotten 3 bad over the years straight out of the box.. its the only thing i can think of

We purchased a 2020 Equinox LT April 27 for 37,000 new out of the box. Noticed the front end shaking near violently with very noticable shaking of the steering wheel. A bottle of water sitting in the drink well shook with concentric waves toward the middle of the bottle. After several visits and consultation with GM? they replaced the driver's side CV shaft. The problem seemed to be ameliorated somewhat but still noticeable exists at a steady 35 mph rate of speed and especially between 40 and 50 mph while accelerating. I did not notice or check a heating of the drive wheels.

I have a 2020 Equinox that sounds like it is doing the exact same thing. I have it scheduled for a service appointment in one week for this issue. Do you have any updates on yours?

I have one doing the exact same thing. I haven't had it into the shop yet. It's when accelerating and usually between 40-45 mph. Doesn't do it every single time though.

Took a 2013 Equinox to shop with same extreme vibrations at any speed but only random , car would drive 80 mph straight down highway no vibration’s . Then after stopping at a few stop signs then back on highway would shake at random . It turned out to be the front rubber brake lines to the caliper were delaminating internally , if you looked at it from the outside you could not tell . The pinch would cause the brake to grab just little enough to make the shake violently. The mechanic worked at GM for 25 years and started his own shop , great honest mechanic fix cost’s 286 dollars . I’m writing this because I know how frustrating this problem can be , when I took the car to mechanic it was not even shaking . It’s hard to tell a mechanic that it runs great , but tell me what’s wrong with it . !!!! I searched the Internet with no avail , I read many posts where people were just changing random parts hoping to fix problem .
