Hi bookum, You may have blown a head or intake manifold gasket. Once it gets warm metal (and everything else) expands and fills the gaps that are causing the noise. You may also want to check the exhaust manifold as well. Hope this helps!
you have a cracked exhaust manifold it's usually the drivers side
Its a supercharged 4wd and the noise sounds like exhaust. all pipping looks good. when it heats up the noise is not as bad.

I have a cooling system leak in my 99 frontier 2.4 L. It is in the inside elbow of a 90 degree "pipe" coming off the manifold. How is this "pipe" disconnected from the manifold for replacement?
