Asked by Alvin Oct 17, 2018 at 10:20 PM about the 2004 Nissan Sentra 1.8

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The overdrive engages intermittently and remains for a period before disengaging.

Then there are times the O/D works perfectly for days.
Please advise.

I appreciate the one response I received. What I did that appears to have solved the problem, was changed the trans fluid. My research indicated one should change the fluid around 30,000 miles. That I wasn't familiar with. I hope the problem is solved.

Hello everyone, I'm back with another update. Earlier I texted I changed the trans fluid and the overdrive was working, well that didn't work. So I changed the transmission speed sensor and now my concerns have been resolved. The part in question is priced from $ 60.00 to $245.00. However, I got the part from a local salvage yard..for $4.00.
