Brake in or broke in

Asked by Guru8Q4RT Jan 03, 2020 at 02:03 PM about the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack RWD

Question type: General

I bought a 2019 scatpack I didn't know of the
instructions for driving a new car. I am asking if u
didn't follow the instructions correctly like freway
speed, tire screeching? How will my engine do I am
up to 540 miles on it now?

Take it easy for a few thousand miles and vary your speed out on the highway. I would do an oil change at 1,000 miles.

Also keep an eye on your oil level. You might use some during the first thousand miles or so until the rings and valves get broken in and properly seated. Avoid heavy acceleration and panic stops during this period as well. New brakes need to be broken in as well. Hope that helps! Jim
