If a car is jacked up is it normal for wheel to wobble when shaked by mechanic?

Asked by athans Aug 15, 2022 at 02:20 PM about the 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Laser is same model as Mitsusbishi Eclipse.
My mechanic shakes my wheel when it up on jack and said I need new control arms and stabilizer bars.  Car drives and steers smooth.   Control arms have a little rust on them.

Your Eclipse is worth the cost of the steering repairs. And there might be more damage, which the mechanic will tell you about once you're committed to fix this..... Put this car on Craigslist and drive it CAREFULLY 'til sold. Then go shopping.

Not worth much more than scrap at this point, driving it could put you in harms way as well as others. It’s your car and your money so you need to decide to fix or scrap it.
