2019 Ford Expedition tow ratings

Why does the max tow capability change from 9000 to 6000 on a 4x4 XLT
Max with package 202A and FX4 option package vs package 202A with
heavy duty tow package?  The only difference between the FX4 setup and the
heavy duty tow package is the integrated brake control and the trailer backup
assist. Both of these have the class IV trailer hitch, 3.73 axle, and heavy duty
radiator.

Ask your Ford dealer. The HD tow package may also include heavy duty transmission and engine cooling. I have no doubt you could add the necessary features to the FX4 if you wanted.

Yea that’s why I’m asking because the Ford dealers I’ve been asking don’t have any idea. All they can say is the preprogrammed responses that have been downloaded into their brain by the mother ship. They say oh you’ve really done your research. I don’t know, but if I my job was to sell them I think I would know them inside and out. They should have access to much more information than then public. I would be embarrassed when a customer knows more about your product that you do! They don’t even offer to find out. They just want to do as little as possible to get a sale they really aren’t interested in earning your business I guess. Thanks!
