starter

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just pick up a used 3000gt  sl, the starter sounds like it is not engaging the way is
should .  ( it is a after market starter ) so i try to replace it with a new ( after matket
) starter and it sounds just as bad.????   I  just did the trans  and all looks and work
great but , I do not know if whats up with the starter .

you may have to shim the starter,after market starters always need shiming on any vehicle.
