Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse gs with a DOHC 2.0 when the engine isnt warmed up and i start it, it will let out a loud squeal until i rev it a little bit and it will do it when i come to a stop but once the engine get warmed up it usually doesnt do it i think i pretty much ruled out the serpentine belt

your serpentine belt needs replaceing, check to see if the pully wheel is worn out the ball bearings, the pully you use to remove the serp belt, take belt off this wheel,it is a free turning wheel, spin it listen and feel for roughtness while turning.

its most likely your tensioner pully. ive got a 97 2.0l that does the same thing but mines got nothing wrong with it. ive got 7 friends with 2.0l eclipses and they all experience the same thing and their cars are the most well maintained vehicles around this area. its just a typical 2.0l eclipse issue.
