Ranger into B2200 engine swap

Asked by Brayden May 01, 2018 at 04:25 PM about the 1992 Mazda B-Series B2200 Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am wondering if a 93 Ford Ranger engine will fit into a 92 Mazda B2200 and if
it will connect with the existing transmission

I was under the impression that the two were essentially the exact same truck, does the one year difference mean it won't be able to connect to transmission?

No. Your Mazda is older than 93, it is not compatible with any Rangers

Would this be doable if both the engine and tranny were swapped? I know the mazdas weren't identical to rangers until 93, but would the engine fit?
