Brake problems

Why is it when I brake sometimes my brake pedal get real
hard and it start shaking but I I pump the brake it will work
fine

loss of vacuum at the power booster somewhere or plastic check valve in power canister sticking have it checked quick it will fail and you will have no power boost for the brake peddle
