2000 eclipse gs

Asked by Wilbur Jun 03, 2016 at 06:51 AM about the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2000 eclipse gs with non turbo 2.4.
Wanted to know what all would I need to put a
turbo in it. I got the car for $300. Nothing wrong
with it except it lags in second gear ( manual
tranny). I was told by numerous people that it was
a timing problem. I know the kid that had it. He
only drove to work and home and his work isn't
even a mile away from his house. It never
overheated or anyrhing. When this started
happening he parked it and it has sat since. Want
to know what I would have to do to the engine to
put a turbo in it. And where can I get the parts at
that won't cost me a arm and a leg. Your help is
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You know, Turbos put extreme demands on an engine make sure that engine is 100% leakdown test it! and change timing belt and you should go through the cylinder head 3 angle standard valve grind and high quality head gasket refresh . As to the REAL cost...$3500 after the finally dyno tune. Yeah, I know EBAY has UNIVERSAL "turbo kits" for $500 for every car!

This year model ,would be dangerous to add a turbo without beefing the motor up to support it,
