is there a replacement U-joint for current vehicle and continue shopping? 1986 Nissan/Datsun D21 Truck 2WD 4 Cylinders N 2.4L TBI SOHC 116" wheel base. My mechanic says the shaft must be replaced?

The truck manual says some drive shafts cannot be repaired (U-joint replaced). Have they designed a replacement U-joint since then? current vehicle and continue shopping?
