Mitsubishi Galant ECU specs

My car is a 2003 mitsubishi galant. My motor had
to be replaced and i got one out of a 2001 galant.
Both 2.4l 4cyl. My computer is now needing
replaced. Do i match the ecu to the year of the
motor or the year of the car itself

My car turnover but want strat theres some wires around the ingthon what is that called?
