03 eclipse transponder key

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking at buying this car but they lost the
key. They said that they had a another steering
column for it. Can I use the key off of the other
steering column from another 03 eclipse to start
the car?

From my experience on a repo no it wouldn't work. I tried to use my eclipse key on the same year car and it did not work.

If your eclipse is at least 2000 or newer it requires a transponder key witch is programmed specifically to your car and only your car if this key is not within 2/3 feet of your steering column your car will not stay running
