2003 eclipse will not shift into park or drive

Asked by Nickolas Apr 06, 2018 at 08:48 PM about the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car will not shift into drive or park and
the shifter feels very sticky and hard to
move. How can I resolve this issue? I need
my car for work and I did not have any
issues all day until I went to leave work.

Center console shifter? spill anything on it? sounds like the slides are stuck together, silicone spray will loosen that up.

Will that keep it from shifting into park and drive even when it’s moved to those positions ?

use silicone spray while moving shifter, should clean up slides slides, also mild soap and water, but not very wet.
