Mini Cooper Drive to Park without Braking

My granny got out of my mini Cooper in our
driveway without putting in park.  I ran to the car
and moved it from drive to park, but I'm not 100% I
had depressed the brake.  Now when I reverse, I
hear this weird sound... Like a fork stuck in a
garbage disposal.  Is my car destroyed?
