2016 Tahoe PPV air conditioning issue.

Asked by PoliceK9Tahoe Jun 30, 2020 at 05:06 PM about the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe Police RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

ok so i have a 2016 tahoe ppv. Everything except the front evaporator core
and the fans has been replaced. The truck blows cold as ice 95% of the time.
After some time the truck will blow warm air for a few minutes (between 2-9
minutes) and them go back to being cold. Sometimes this happens when
sitting parked sometimes its when the truck is moving in drive at a low speed
usually. I have done everything i can think of.

The air problems originally started with the rear air. That is how everything
and I do mean everything had been replaced. Down to the inline filter in the
rear.

Is there a blend door moving, switching from AC mode to heat? Your vehicle probably has an environmental or climate control module that governs the blend door, something may be making it temporarily change position. If this is the case, your AC is still blowing cold air, but the blend door is blocking it as it switches over to the heater core, so you may be getting hot or warm air from the heater core and only a smidgen of cold air from the AC that can sneak past blend door.

Follow up: there is a recall for 2016 to 2018 Tahoes for their rear climate control module.

where can i locate the recall i was unable to find it. No the climate control module has not been replaced that i know of. it will be working fine then all of a sudden blow warm. also to note the recycle air will stop working and ill have to press the button off and then back on again to get it to work again.

I had my Tahoe in today for similar issue. Sometimes I get cold air. Ice cold. Sometimes warm air. Off and on. They say I need to replace my rear evaporator core to the tune of $1300. I let them charge that sucker up and left... lol. Hoping the charge lasts a while and the leak is slow.
