94 cougar wont pounce

I have a 94 cougar with a 4.6l that starts and runs, but when you shift into any gear, i hear the rpm change but nothing happens. No movement of anykind. Ideas?

RPMs increasing with no movement, is usually transmission related. Maybe throttle related, but I doubt it. On a 94 cougar, the trans is due for a rebuild, especially if you have over 150K miles.
