Question type: General

I want to keep a spare transmitter in my trunk in case I am far from home
and lose the one I'm using. The problem is the car won't let me lock it
because it senses the transmitter in the trunk. My question is if I remove the
battery and keep it separate from the transmitter will that let me lock the car
and will the transmitter retain it's memory after a long period of time with the
battery removed?
