96 cougar v6 won't start and I Dont know why

1993 3.8 liter won't turn on when I crank it up cold I have to pour gas in to my throttle the it will turn on after the engine warms up it will turn on and turn right back on like nothing my check engine comes on with the check gauges light as well when the cars on and ideaing and these check engine lights turn off it runs real good but at a cold start is hesitant and real rough gas pedal responds with back fires and no power have pump the throttle for the engine to rive up I cleaned out both the catalytic converters they were very clogged up bad do you think that may be I got the muffler pluged as well
