Engine order code

Asked by William Mar 25, 2018 at 05:39 AM about the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer AWD

Question type: General

I researched my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer Vin. to
find out what the engine number is,
I recently had a shop install a replacement engine
and I would like to know how to find the engine
number on the motor,
I'm not sure the Auto Shop replaced the engine,
only charged me for a replacement

I have seen the engine number stamped on a plate attached to the engine itself on two different Explorer. The Mountaineer is identical, so perhaps it is no longer stamped on the block. If the shop removed the tag, or was missing from the engine, it will be difficult to know the engine number.
