Had the rear axle replaced 3 times in 7 years on my 2003 Mountaineer. Other than the recalls, what else can be wrong with it?

Rear end/axle makes aloud noise at 50 mph. and the noise will dissipate when I slow down at 30 mph. Seems to be getting louder above 50 mph.

I agree with "Tom". My '06 began the same noise problem about a year ago. I thought it was tire noise since I had just changed them for new rubber. Found out it was the rear wheel bearings thanks to an alert service shop.
