I have one speaker in the rear of my 2003 mercury mountaineer on the passenger side only... is this a sub? and if so, how do I access it???

Yes - its a subwoofer - You have to remove the entire panel or else you will break the tabs that hold the front grill on, don't try to remove just the small trim panel with the seam. The clips break if you do not remove them from the backside. Simply pull the whole quarter panel trim out, about five minutes of work. You will need a T50 torx bit for the seat belt bolt. Good luck,
