Engine failure

Asked by Debbie Jun 24, 2019 at 07:27 PM about the 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine to my 14 Lincoln MKZ hybrid, with 55,000 miles , threw a rod. Had it towed to the closest dealership, which just
happened to have changed the oil approx 1 month ago.  They said I hit something to cause the engine to fail.  I knew hadn’t hit
anything.  Lincoln got involved & had it towed to another dealership to make a determination.  It’s still under the power train
warranty.  The new dealership determined I had not hit anything.   What would cause the engine to fail.?  Could it have been
negligence from the last oil change.?

Ok, well I know what caused the engine to fail. Negligent oil change... oil filter not installed correctly. So, now the power train warranty does not apply. Lincoln says this a grey area? My hope is they will pay to a new engine. That is yet to be determined
