2019 Jeep Cherokee Radio Cuts In and Out

Asked by delder63 Sep 21, 2018 at 03:58 PM about the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee radio from day one has had an issue. When I start
the vehicle it either does or doesn't have the issue. The issue is all the
stations cut in and out, static, volume up and down. Sometimes I can start
the car and radio works fine. Other times I start it and it immediately has an
issue. It's not where I live, or anything to do with general reception in my
area. It definitely is an issue with the vehicle. The dealer replaced the radio
yesterday and what do you know that it still does it. Anyone else having this
issue? BTW it will either do it or not when you start the vehicle. It will not
start having an issue while you are driving or stop the issue while you are
driving. It's either going to happen upon starting the engine or it isn't. (if
anyone can make sense of that - lol)

I will definitely be taking it back again. Just picked it up after having the radio replaced (because that's what they thought it was) and it is still cutting in and out. Somehow they have to be able to figure this thing out! They say they have not had this problem with any other vehicle. I wish there were others out there having the same issue who have had it fixed. I really don't have confidence in their ability.

I am having the same issue. it is random and annoying. The Dealership tried to tell me that when it is "cloudy" outside it could impact the radio. I was floored! They replaced the radio and that did NOT fix the issue. I think it is the antenna ... waiting to hear what they will do next.

I have not gotten resolve yet. I don't know if they will be able to figure it out but they will either have to do that or take the jeep back! I am heading out of town with it but will be all over them when I get back. Let me know if you get an answer! Thanks.

took my Jeep back in last night. They have the car. I told them I think they need to replace the Antenna and see if that solves the issue. Waiting to see what they will come back with. Will keep you posted! As well if please let me know what process you make when you are back!

I just leased a new latitude 4x4 yesterday and I discovered the same exact issue today on my drive to work. I’m bringing it first thing to dealership tomorrow. This is bogus.

We bought 2019 jeep cherokee latitude last thursday and having same exact radio issues. Glad to know its not just ours.

they replaced my radio and then the antenna with no success. I think it is some kind of interference within the wiring. they are investigating the next steps. Does anyone know if this would qualify for the lemon law?????????

I'm still on vacation and will most definitely get actively trying to get the issue resolved. I will be contacting the Dealer Jeep Representative and see what they are going to do to get this resolved. I have no idea about the lemon law but know I'm not paying over $30,000 for a vehicle that the radio doesn't work!!

I just bought a 2019 Cherokee limited. Driving home from the dealer the check engine light came on (less than 100 miles on it). Turns out an oil sensor was bad. The radio fades in and out like others have expierienced but I have not taken it back to the dealer for it yet. Anybody have the issue resolved yet?

8 people found this helpful.

warf63 - I've not had any issues with the check engine light. But the radio is a different story. I called today after getting back from vacation and they are going to research this issue and give me a call back to let me know what they can do (probably nothing). I live in NY and looked into the lemon law but it says that the issue must "substantially impair the value of the vehicle". Not sure this qualifies but it's a big deal to me. The other thing I realized is that when the radio is in the "not working" phase, if you use the search button to tune to the next available station it goes all the way around and only stops on one station, 99.5. It won't tune into any other station. I think it is a problem with the receiver but we will see what the dealer comes up with. I have a video of the tuning (or lack of tuning) but don't know how to upload a video on this forum. I'll keep posting my progress and if anyone else gets a resolve, please post! :-) Thanks!!

I just purchased a 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus, Iam having the same problem with the radio fade-in and out. I have the 9 speaker with subwoofer package I had the antenna replaced not the base and still have the problem only in FM. Sirius or AM seems like it does not have any issues. The radio appears like it has a reception problem stations not coming in. While in another vehicle reception is just fine. Dealer told me they have never heard of this problem Iam the first.

Mike - you are not the first. It's definitely an issue. Mine goes back into the shop next week and I'll see if they can figure it out. Hope everyone keeps us posted on their progress in getting this resolved.

I have been having this same issue with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Along with it "stalling" out when I went to get on the highway. I had no acceleration what so ever and was almost rear-ended. I think this is the 5th time now back into the dealership to look at it. They have replaced the radio also like others have stated above and no change. I am also having issues with the key fob and it not recognizing it when I get to my car, sometimes it will start when pushed into the start button other times it will not. I was just given a loaner Jeep Cherokee and the radio on this vehicle is doing the same thing! Wondering how many time I have to keep bringing this back in before they say enough is enough!

I also have the same radio problem with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Radio replaced and software upgrade has not helped. Dealer says maybe an upgrade will be available by the end of 2018. This is unbelievable for a 27000 dollar vehicle. No help from Chrysler Customer Care.

Following- Same issue with our 2018 Grand Cherokee Limited. Had dealer look at it a few days after buying in September. Upgrade to software and that was it. No luck. An above post mentioned it happeing at startup. It will either happen or it doesn't. I noticed the screen getting really warm. Not sure how warm they are suppose to get but it was border line hot. Rescheduled to take it back in on the Oct 30th What a joke.

I'm having the same issue with my 2019 Jeep Cherokee limited. Sometime it gets a station and sometimes not and the volume sometimes has to be turned up high to hear the radio and sometimes not----very random, I haven't brought it back to the dealer yet but I will. Sometimes I just turn it off because it so annoying!

I have a new 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 and same problem. Only on fm this happens. On xm it’s loud and clear. Has anyone found the problem yet?

Chrysler Customer Care says it is the vehicles with Panasonic radios. Vehicle is wired for only this brand radio with problem. Other Cherokees with different radio has no problems...Sopposedly there will be a software upgrade before years end. This has been going on since I bought new in July. New radio did nothing, just like the dealer. What a joke. Very disappointed with Jeep and the dealer.

2019 jeep limited here. Just bought it two weeks ago. Radio volume fades in and out. I also get a burst of static when the bluetooth answers or hangs up a call.. that's when it works because it doesn't always work. It also deletes my favorite numbers that I have saved. I've reprogrammed it multiple times.. get back in the car and everything is gone. Its goes back to the dealer next week!

All of you need to go to the National Highway Transportation Safety Association website (NHTSA.gov) and file a complaint. No one likes to take the time to do this, but it's the only way a recall will ever get initiated for the bum radios you all are experiencing. The stalling issue which is LIFE THREATENING just got a recall issued, but it doesn't go into effect until the first week of December!!! What are they waiting on, someone to die first??? Also stay vigilent by going to the NHTSA website weekly and check your individual VIN number for any recalls AND also click on the VEHICLE tab to check 2019 Jeep Cherokees in general for issues. Of the recalls implemented, the small print acknowledges that there are vehicles that sometimes slip through the cracks on recalls. Knowing what the recalls are, even if your VIN doesn't come up as affected can help you possibly diagnose a problem and tell the dealership to look for it when servicing your vehicle. There are currently 5 RECALLS on various 2019 Jeep Cherokees, all makes Latitude, Trailhawk, etc.

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited is only 2 weeks old. Started having problems a few days ago. I was thinking it was because I had placed a decal across the front windshields black dots. I was mistakenly thinking they were part of the antena. I have found out otherwise. Also, I have serius radio right now and when I pull under the car port it goes silent. Is the Aluminum enough to prevent the waves from being received? Thank you for the information. I will have to contact the dealer in my area.

If you read up on Sirius radio, there is a disclaimer that reception may be limited inside a garage or parking structure or any other place where satellite communication may be limited. There I nothing wrong with your radio in relation to Sirius. Mine does the same thing.

ESOinTexas - I did go the NHTSA site and reported a complaint. Thank you for your suggestion. As I write, my Jeep Cherokee is at the dealer for them to try to find the issue with the radio and fix it...I have serious doubts as to their ability to find and fix this issue. I am wondering what we can do if they cannot fix this issue? What recourse do we have?

WOW! So glad (in a way) to know that it's not just me! Same issue: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited - radio fades in and out. So annoying! I just turned in my 2016 Jeep because it kept "dying" on me. (Had to have it towed 4 times in 2 years and it was brand new!) Trying to stay faithful to Jeep, but they aren't making it easy!

As i stated before, we had the same issue issue with our 2018 GCL bought in september. took it back in the first week with no fix after the update. After speaking with Jeep and taking it back in last week, I was told a new update was being released. I was told this happened on 11/2. They updated ours and we drove away. So far so good. Give it a try and ask about the latest update being released in November. Jeep did say this was suppose to fix the problem.

I had mine updated yesterday. They said the new update was designed to fix all the problems I'm having.. radio volume going up and down, bluetooth not working, getting a blast sound of static when a phone call tries to come in. Well it didn't help any of it. Calling the dealership today. Also my side mirrors wont automatically come back up when I put it in drive from reverse.. I have to manually do it. I'm so frustrated.. only 1000 miles on it!

Yes, it's a very helpless and frustrating experience when you feel like you are getting ripped off like this, especially when your car is usually your second highest investment. If they dont fix it at the dealership, then unfortunately you will need to get very vocal and probably even act demanding and rude to get someone higher up to step in. I would ask to speak to the General Manager and if that doesn't work, call Chrysler and the NHTSA. Hopefully you wont have to resort to this, but there are attorneys who will write a letter for you for about $50.00 threatening to sue them. That usually gets action when being an ass doesn't. Dont accept an answer that they can't figure out what is wrong with your vehicle. You do have rights and they must fix what is wrong or replace it. Period!

So I took my car into the dealer and told them about the new update in November and they did that update. I got the car back Monday (yesterday). It is too early to tell if the update resolved the issue but it has not cut out yet. I'm "cautiously optimistic" about this being the fix. I will post another update in about a week. I'll feel more comfortable saying that the jeep update fixed the issue at that point.

delder63 Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm curious about this "update" thing. Makes me wonder if all of us out here need to do something to update our control panels; especially since you had to get a dealership to do yours. Shortly after I got my Trailhawk I remember sitting in my garage before leaving to go somewhere and the control panel did something different. There was a small bar across the top that illuminated and it appeared that the control panel was updating. So, they must be able to "push out" updates to our systems remotely. Who knows though. Please post again with an update in a week or so to let us know how your vehicle is fairing after the dealership "fix".

Ok it’s been 6 whole days and it is still working great! Still being cautiously optimistic. This update seems to have been the key. Thanks Jeep Owner 3!! I will update again in a few more days but I would highly recommend that everyone have the dealership do the 11/2 radio update!

Ok EVERYONE with the radio fading in and out, I can tell you that the November 2 update that was suggested did in fact solve my radio issue. It has been over a week with no issues at all and I’ve used it extensively every day. You need to get this update from the dealer. Thanks for all he comments on this thread and I hope everyone gets their radio updated!!! Happy thanksgiving! I can’t speak to any other issue with any other vehicle except the radio fading in and out.

@GuruXMSLM...I'm not sure what kind of radio I have. It's a 2019 Cherokee latitude plus as well. I also checked my vin in and it did not come up with any updates as well. But I can tell you that this update did in fact solve my problem. Go to your dealer and tell them this and I'm sure they will be able to do the update. I also urge everyone to get this done, you will be glad you did. The radio does not fade in or out anymore. If that changes, I will be back letting you know!! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Oh and my only issue now is the fact that when I bought the vehicle it came with a 1 year subscription to XM radio. After they replaced the radio trying to figure out my problem it got rid of the XM subscription and now I only have a 3 month trial. I am working with the dealer to get this resolved. And believe me one way or another they will give me a year of XM radio!!

I've had the random cut in / out issues AND it randomly resets my presets. Also there are times, I am listening to a specific sirius channel, make a quick stop, turn car back on, and it's on a different channel. Worst yet: I have put my stuff to go to work in from the passenger side to include the purse with key in it, go to driver door, only to be locked out. I go back to passenger door - locked out completely (luckily husband had a spare and hadn't left for work). I left it at dealer to troubleshoot for a week while on vacation and of course they found nothing wrong. I'll have to try this update, but still concerned about that lockout - I did not chance that one again.

Just bought 2019 Jeep Cherokee Lattitude Plus.FM Radio issue. Volume up and down. Thx for the advice on this board. I have appt for next Friday will requestthe 11/2/18 update and lt you know if it solves it. BTW any idea how the dealer installs this radio software update?

20

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee and experienced issues with the FM volume surge. I know it's gunna happen when the radio boots. It only happens occasionally, but makes me want to kill people. Instead of homicide, I calmly made several videos of the issue and showed it to the dealer. After two months, I got a new radio. Still have the issue. I'll get the 11/2 update and see if it solves the problem.

@2008f250 I had it done in Oneida NY. The dealership is NYE Chrysler - phone 315-277- 8955. I worked with Amanda. She should be able to guide you with the fix. Keep us posted!

I talked to Amanda. She was awesome. She knows her stuff. I explained the procedure step by step to my dealership service dept here in Washington state with all of the detailed info from Amanda and they still could not grasp it. I finally told them to call Amanda. After talking to Amanda they supposedly have it figured out now. I take my jeep in tomorrow morning for the update. Time will tell if my local dealer has it figured out. I will post after the update.

The 11/2 radio software update has fixed one of the owners here but not mine so far. My 2019 Jeep Cherokee is back to the dealer for the 3rd time. The radio update didn’t fix it. I’ll update once my radio problem is gone.

Patrick there was apparently a Jeep update around November 2 that addressed this particular issue. It did solve my problem and I believe there was another owner in this thread that it solved as well. I would keep asking your dealer about this fix.

This is also a problem in the 2019 Ram 1500. I currently have the issue and the dealership says the radio will not accept the Nov 2nd update.

I just bought the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude and all of a sudden the whole touch screen is going crazy! The radio changes channels, the heated seats come off and on, it searches for a device. It seems to cycle through all of it's features. Does any one have this happening?!

UPDATE on 2019 Jeep radio cut in and out. Has been 6 days since the dealer completed the Nov. 6 update and happy to say it appears to have resolved the problem. I will update again if it goes haywire. Anyone who needs the update tell your dealer you want the Nov. 6th update and the Labor Operations Cod Number, (LOP#) is186002WP. They should be able to figure it out then? My dealer credited me a couple of oil changes for my leg work in getting them squared up with the correct fix for the radio they were clueless about. Thanks again, delder63 and Amanda from NYE Chrysler

My 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited has been having issues with the radio for over a year. I have been to multiple dealerships I’m sure over 8x and my radio works for a little while and then is back to fading in and out but it’s ONLY the right side speakers. It dies it consistently when my phone is plugged up to Bluetooth. Chrysler customer care has been awesome with helping to navigate this issue. My car is back to the dealership tomorrow I will mention the update.

I have had my 2019 Jeep Cherokee since September. Within a couple months the touch screen started freezing. Had the radio replaced end of November 2018. It is now end of December 2018 and now the radio is not keeping my preset radio channels, in the last week I have had to reprogram it 3 times. Is there anything I can do, with out bringing it back to the dealership?

I am having the same issues with my 2019 Cherokee Limited - FM radio tunes in and out, volume up and down. Noticed issue within the first 48 hours of taking delivery. My previous car (Lincoln MKC) had zero issues. My driving route has not changed so it must be the car, not the location/environment. No issues with Sirius. I know this isn't life threatening but music is HUGE to me. I also find the car regularly cannot connect to my phone. Again, previous car had no issues and it's the same phone, so it must be the car. I am going to take it in to the dealer and will share what works. Thanks everyone!

@delder63 and anyone else who had this issue and then had the dealer correct it - my car is doing this intermittently, so there is a good chance if I take the car to the dealer, they won’t be able to replicate the issue. How did you handle this? Or maybe your car was doing it all the time?

2 people found this helpful.

@Emilie Camilleri they do not need to replicate the issue. The specific update that is listed in the comments above doesn't need to have the radio doing the problem at the time of update. not only did my radio cut in and out the computer screen randomly started to toggle through the many options and turned off my heater and turned on the AC, skipped through the saved stations, went into the settings screen etc. Very strange and I am curious if these others were happening to others?

Mine is doing the same thing, GuruB2BFL. Toggling through all the screens randomly, blower going high and low, turning the seat and steering wheel heaters on and off, changing the radio bands, changing the language, turning on the back up camera while driving, etc etc. It’s like a 3 year old ghost kid is operating the uConnect display. I pulled off the road and began to video record it on my phone so I could show the dealer. Plan to call them this week. Does anyone know if the Nov 6th update will fix all this random behavior?

I have been having the same issues. Bought my 2019 Jeep Latitude in July. Couple months later radio would shutdown like it was rebooting. Never owning a Jeep before I thought maybe this is normal. It did it 3 or 4 more times. Asked my girlfriend who has owned a Jeep for a couple years if her radio ever reboots and she said no and to take mine in. I did and when they went to update it it completely fried the radio and they had to order a new one. With the original radio I did not experience the fading and reception issues only the shutdown and rebooting thing. Since having the new radio installed I have experienced the same issues everyone else is having. Have had it in twice, replaced antenna, same thing still happening. Brought back in the following week, they "checked" everything couldn't find any problems said there is nothing else they can do. Was told they can't replace the radio unless they can prove there is something wrong with this one. I believe they have also done an update on it and nothing has gotten better. I drive 3 hours or more a day to and from work and this is a HUGE problem for me. Was informed Jeep is aware there is a radio issue but said it was limited to sirus reception and not FM reception. I asked about a radio upgrade and was told that there is no upgrade available based on my VIN number. What the f is that about, I can't upgrade my sound system!?! Frustrated Jeep owner

I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee Altitude and my radio is making me crazy. It went a whole year with no problems and now it jumps out of the station and into a station with static. I also have been having radio issues with my 2019 Latitude 4x4. I know that the volume goes up or down as you accelerate or slow down. But some days my radio takes forever to even turn on. HOWEVER; I came on here to see if anyone was having issues with their dash in general. Seems to be some sort of electrical issue and Jeep says they have not heard of this. This morning when starting my car, the gas & heat level did not show. I even tried turning my car off and back on twice during my morning commute. Has or is anyone else experiencing this?

I have the 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk and cannot reliably remote start, 1000 miles in and my start/stop says it needs serviced and my bluetooth & cell usage is terrible. Sounds like either a bad speaker or a loose wire. Dealership keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong.

20

I am having the same issue as Noombsy, GuruB2BFL, and Micheal. Toggles through the options on the screen. Changes temperature, turns on air conditioner, changes music setting (am to fm to phone music), blower high to low, changes seat and steering wheel heat settings, changes languages, turning on back up camera while driving, goes into my contacts and tries to make phone calls and text messages etc. I have had the update and it did not fix it, the dealership then changed the whole radio and the issue still came back. Brought it in again yesterday and the electrician kept it overnight. Will update when I hear back from them. Anyone found a solution to the same issue? The technician was asking me questions about what phone I use and how I connect it (Bluetooth or USB). I use a Iphone7 and connect through USB. He also asked me if I found the issue occurs when I use my dash cam. I use a papa go dash cam and I usually have it running all the time when I am driving.

Having the same problem with my Jeep now the am/fm part has completely stopped working. Guess it is time for the dealer

I just got my 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude plus about 2 weeks ago. I just started having an issue with my radio. I like to listen to bluetooth, and it keeps switching back to the regular radio in the middle of playing. When I listen to the FM radio or Sm raido it is fine.

I am having the same issue GuruCH8C4, the first time I took it in they did some type of Software update. The second time they had my car for a week and replaced the radio and now it is starting up again. My rear camera even comes on as I am driving. This is definitely a driving hazard especially when the heated seats are on high and you can't shut them off, I basically had to stand and drive or would have been burned. Hope someone gets a solution soon. Dealer said they would call me back this morning and still haven't heard back from them yet.

My wife and I have a 2018 JL Rubicon Unlimited and are experiencing the same problems. It has been disappointing as we have wanted to enjoy our Jeep. FCA opens cases quickly and closes them fast without following up or fixing the issues. My last call with FCA was very unpleasant as they tried to assert verbal policy in place of my warranty. The FCA case manager also spoke to me in a demeaning way. FU! FCA! Jerks! You dared me to call my attorney so I did!

Just recieved word that I have to replace the radio of my 2016 Jeep Latitude. It just stopped working for the AM/FM. Had relatable volume issues with the different stations, as well. The dealership can't seem to give me a reasonable answer as to why the radio went bad. This appears to be a manufacturer matter--I refuse to pay for the explicative amount to replace it--especially when my Satelite radio works perfectly fine.

I urge you to call the Chrysler line and submit a claim. This could possibly lead to a recall in which could be of assistance to all. 800-853-1403

I just sold my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for these same reasons. Had 42k when I bought it and 72k when I sold it. Bluetooth wouldn't connect, screen would go blank, remote start wouldn't work. I finally had enough of it and sold it. LOVED that vehicle until that started happening. Got on here to see if the newer models were having the same problem, because I am in the market for a vehicle now. Looks like they are, so I won't be purchasing a Jeep. Why hasn't Jeep recalled this issue?? I won't do business with a company who won't stand behind their product.

My 2012 Grand Cherokee went in for new fuel pump in October got it back no radio . Jeep replaced the radio. In June wouldn't start again it was a recall for fuel pump relay which had already been done and I think was the problem before which cost me 1700 for fuel pumps. Now I get it back and radio is not working again is it just a coincidence please something is shorting out the radio I was told they have had big problems with this.

My 2019 Cherokee Altitude has 57 miles on it and now just started this activity. Brought it back and dealer told me it was a loose connector behind the radio. Not sure if I believe it. Will keep checking back here with follow ups

We have been told twice that our 2014 Cherokee Limited needs a new radio. The first time was in November 2018 and after a call to Chrysler customer service, we found out there was an update that did fix the problems with the radio and nav. Now again we are having issues with the radio not coming on when the vehicle is started and nav system shows us going through fields and driving across the ocean. We were told by the dealership service rep that there is an "internal problem" with the radio and we need a new one. I have again contacted Chrysler Corporate custormer service and requested a new radio at no cost as this seems to be a manufacturing defect.

Hi All, I received my 2019 Cherokee KL in October 2018. The 8.4" SXM radio ran flawlessly until June 2019. I started having the audio problem that this thread reports: Volume up/down, cut-in/cut-out. Sometimes OK, sometimes not. Now my radio is 'fixed' after asking the basic question: "What Changed" ? What changed was that I started to use the 'AUX' input on the center console for my scanning radio receiver. After unplugging the audio cable, the intermittent audio-loss ceased and all returned to normal! Being an EE, I started a thought-experiment to 'guess' what could be the cause. I have a few theories which would need real-world testing. Here are a few to start the process. I'm very interested to hear if anyone on this thread solves their problem by unplugging the audio input to the 'AUX' connector. Note that I had the problem no matter which audio source was selected: AM/FM/SXM/AUX/USB. The scanner audio output was always plugged into the AUX port. Theory 1. Ground problem: The scanner gets its power from the rear DC power outlet. The 12' shielded audio cable connects the rear-mounted receiver to the 'Aux' connector resulting in a possible Ground- Loop due to the distance and resistance of the shield's ground. Theory 2. AGC problem: When the scanner located a station and output audio, the signal was fed-through the audio selector circuit in the Uconn. If there is an AGC (Automatic Gain Control) on the audio input which reacted to the scanner's audio, perhaps it reduced the audio input to the speakers' amplifier. So, my problem appears to be solved after a week of driving short and long distances. Will it 'last'? Time will tell. Let me know if you find that this 'fix' helped your situation. -RadioRich in Central NH

Hello all. I purchased my Jeep Grand Cherokee new in March, 2018. I started having the issue with my radio almost immediately. The radio goes on and off randomly. Sometimes the screen will simply go grey and nothing.....it doesn't turn off or back on, just crickets. Other times it will go off for at least 2-3 minutes. For whatever reason, I also have a problem with the station 101.1 taking FOREVER to buffer and then finally comin on. This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME without fail. Then, my radio did something REALLY interesting. I was listening to a country station (92.3) when the radio went off and buffered F O R a W H I L E. When it finally came back on, it was on 101.1. Huh. Go figure. I have taken my vehicle to Jeep about this issue 3 times now. The first time they told me they couldn't replicate the issue so they couldn't give me an answer. Basically, "I don't know" and sent me on my way. The second time I brought it in they finally acknowledged there was an issue but told me it was a software issue and they were waiting for a "upgrade" to be coming down the pipeline. That was over a year ago. It happened again just about 5 days ago and I was furious and just sick and tired. So, I called the dealership AGAIN. Was told to contact Chrysler who has opened a "claim ticket" and is trying to figure out the issue (a joke bcuz they are aware it's an issue). Funny thing though, the loaner they gave me (a 2019 Jeep Cherokee) has not had this issue. Yesterday on the way home from the dealership I changed the station several times from different stations to 101.1 and it came on immediately. Same thing today on the way to work. Interesting. Thankfully, I have a video recording of the issue as it's occurring, on my phone, but of course that's not helping me in the interim. I'm still paying my monthly nut for a $50,000 truck that has never worked like it was new from the moment I drove it off of the lot. I don't know about you but I greatly enjoy paying full price for something new only to find out that it doesn't actually work as it's supposed to. I'm guessing the CEOs and board members at Jeep who likely drive a foreign auto aren't remotely concerned with this issue..... as they're not having it.

i have a 2017 jeep cherokee sport. also having the radio issues.. cuts in and out - switches from AM to FM to bluetooth on its own. the dealer has replaced the radio 2 times so far. the newest radio that was installed was also faulty. lost my backup camera. sound is horrible , the number for the KM driven on the dash wont stop flashing on and off. the touch screen doesnt work properly. so they are ordering Radio #4 for my jeep. and im sure it wont fix the problem.. also in the last 2 years i have had the front struts go. front axle, cluster in the dash, and lower ball joint/knuckle.. safe to say i have not been having good luck with my car.

Yes I have all the same issues...Mine is in the shop for the 4th time in 4 months. Same issues radio cuts in and out but now there is no sound at all or Blue tooth. They have replaced the Amp, Mic, done multiple software revs and still having issues. The dealer told me CALL JEEP customer service line 800-992-1997 and have them open a case. He said Jeep knows all about this Uconnect Issue but without a case number Jeep will only authorize the minimum like software updates. The dealer told me open a case as you will need it once your warranty expires and it will get the engineers involved, not just the techline folks.

Opened a case as stated above, it went to a black hole, no one called me back, the dealer could not receive a call back, they gave me the Jeep back and said, they cant fix what isnt broke. SO I traded it for a BMW...never again a Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler....

2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited doing the same thing, except mine also cuts off/resets while driving. Just got this in June and it's been in the shop 3x for this, as well as once for "stalling" while accelerating and once for the power steering going out while at a high rate of speed. Anyone else having a nightmare time with this vehicle?

Mine does the same thing but only when in FM radio when I had sirius it never had an issue like this although my radio was replaced within the first week of owning this vehicle.

I have had major radio issues and do not use Sirius. Today, for the first time, the radio would not turn down or off. I turned it off multiple times and the radio was still playing. This is the first time for this to happen and I was feeling the “Christine” vibe. I HATE this vehicle!

My daughter has a 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk that has had issues for several months. It started with the radio cutting acting up, then it started affecting the speedometer, the blind spot indicators, backup camera and sometimes all the warning lights come on or it can’t find the key fob. It’s been in the shop at least 5 times. It’s in the shop now and has been there over a month. The dealer has replaced the radio and ran several updates and still no fix. Anyone else having similar issues?

Jeeps have a setting where if u start to speed up the volume will increase and as u slow down the volume will decrease so it’s almost impossible to hear if idle

Just purchased a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. I am having an issue with presets disappearing AND the "skipping" sound on all channels. Sounds like a CD with a scratch. Not a huge deal, but it does drive me crazy at times. After reading all of the comments, I am not sure it is worth taking in to get fixed?

1 people found this helpful.

Probably needs an update at least that’s what they say it will be but that’s how all my problems started on my Jeep then just kept getting worse always be prepared for lemon law fiat ruined the jeeps excessive oil consumption with full synthetic oil as well as gas mileage not actually getting what it should and start stop feature breaks a lot makes car shut of randomly while driving

So glad I found this. I’ve been chasing this for a year. So hit and miss. I would take the antenna off and it would be good for a couple of days. Will schedule once this covid crap is done

I am having the same issue with no audio when listening to AM/FM radio on 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Weird thing is, audio works fine on SiriusXM or AUX input or Apple interface to my phone. So, it is isolated to the AM/FM receiver only. There are WAY to many complaints on this site for Jeep to not know about this issue.

Anyone still having this issue....there is a fix. Posting this information again as I see a lot more questions about it. This is copied from a post up above.... Thanks again, delder63 and Amanda from NYE Chrysler Good Luck Everyone!

I started having the same issue with less then 2,000 miles on my car. They replaced the whole unit at the time it’s still doing it and was told to wait for the update but according to Uconnect my stereo is current with no updates available. When I use my Bluetooth the volume is just fine. Only does it when I am using am/fm or Sirius radio.

Anyone have this issue resolved? I have a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk. The issue started about a few months about. FM cutting in and out 50-60% of the time. Cant figure it out. Looked at uconnect website and there seems to be no update.

Hi. Having the same issue. 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Radio stations that have always worked, now come in and out / tons of static. The AM will not work at all. Very annoying. Is there an update or do you need to reset the system somehow.. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have been having the same problem as the rest of you with my 2019 Cherokee TrailHawk radio/display and was wondering if there is a Jeep Technical Bulletin issued to have it repaired. I'm still under warranty but, after reading the responses, not sure if I'll take it in. What's the point if they can't fix it - other than I need to get it on record before my warranty expires. Specifically, my radio will "freeze" - no channel changes, no volume, no response from the tuning knobs or buttons; sometimes it just does a total reboot out of nowhere...occasionally 3 or 4 times befire it stays on; today I go the good ole "blue screen of death". Even when the vehicle was turned off the screen stayed blue for a good while. Stopping, putting the car in park, and restarting the radio doesn't usually help; but sometimes it does. It is definitiely NOT a reception issue; it's some sort of electrical/mother board isue with the radio/display screen/navigation system design.

I have a 2019 Jeep Charokee Lat Plus with the same issue of the AM/FM radio fading in and out. My software is UTD. Has anyone found a fix to this?
