Someone I know tried to fix the holding bracket in his passenger side view mirror using epoxy (plastic welding) recommended for that purpose, the mirror felled off the following day; found it on the ground. Then he used a different type of glue, it did not work either. Had to buy a new mirror. So, heed the advise from Tom and just wait for the part to arrive.
