2007 mustang gt stalls while driving

Asked by James Feb 09, 2023 at 12:15 PM about the 2007 Ford Mustang GT Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I picked up a 07 mustang gt. The car idles fine
doesn’t die but when I’m driving down the road and
let off the gas it dies but starts back up everytime. I
was thinking it was the alternator but I don’t know
for sure the battery has some corrosion.

Sounds more engine management than main power, did you pull the codes? Could be a dirty throttle body, ISC unit dirty or sticky. Have tried cleaning the throttle body with the appropriate cleaner?

No , I haven’t yet, The car runs great at idle doesn’t stall or anything. When I’m going down the road and my foot isn’t on the gas it’ll stall and I have to put it in neutral or park to restart it. The engine starts back up every time. The engine isn’t overheating or smoking out the exhaust. I’ve seen some forms saying it could be the fuel filter , alternator, throttle body etc. I really appreciate the help

Other times it won’t stall at all. It’s a auto car , the only light that is on the dash is from the wheels not having tire pressure sensors.

Your reply didn’t post but I got them via email. If cleaning the throttle body and ISC doesn’t cure it then you may want find a shop that does live data scanning, that way the tech can watch what is going on in real time and see just what is glitching out.
