Mazda 2004 OD drive?

Question type: General

So just bought a 2004 Mazda. Not too familiar with OD. I
know what it's for. My question is shoild OD be turned off
automatically and you have to press OD button to turn it
on? My Mazda OD light is off when I turn the car on but, I
press OD and the light turns on with O/D off. Just trying to
figure if maybe it's a glitch and it's switched.

So pretty much it's always on OD when I turn the car on. Just have to turn it off every time, if I don't need it?
