Rear bumper door won't close. Door ajar light stays on

Pull the handle like you are going to open it and it should reset the latch.

The striker which holds the coor completely closed may have had the plastic sleeve worn off. This will cause the hatch not to close all the way and result in the door ajar light coming on. Replacement gray plastic inserts can be purchased at most large auto parts stores. Unfortunately, the ones for the side doors are not available.
