Can I safely use E-15 gas in my 2001 Navigator?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just to be clear, I'm asking about the 88 octane
15% Ethanol gas sold as 'E-15' at the pump. The
EPA 'approved' label says 'USE ONLY IN: 2001 and
newer passenger vehicles & Flex-Fuel vehicles'. I
can't find anything on the Ford/Lincoln owner's
support site - they apparently only support 2007 &
newer vehicles! This is all very frustrating, I thought
it sounded like a pretty straightforward & easy
question. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
FYI - this is the same vehicle as a 2001 Ford
Expedition. Thanks in advance to anyone who
responds!

Thank you! The EPA label is very confusing. I live in Virginia & I'm pretty sure ALL our gas is 10% Ethanol - or at least what is most common at our stations. I'd never seen anything else until a new convenience store for a pretty big chain in VA was built & suddenly there were these other 2 choices, E-85 & E- 15. I knew about E-85 & that it was a definite no, but that darn label on the E-15 really messed with me - it's about 5 to as much as 10 cents cheaper per gallon. I just bought the Navigator before Christmas & suddenly have a 30 gallon tank to fill, lol!! Thanks again.

E15 gives poorer fuel economy so you are probably not saving any money by using it.
