Key Fob

Asked by GuruVCLKH Aug 19, 2018 at 08:30 PM about the 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Suddenly the key to my 2017 CX-5 doesn't work. Locks and unlocks but doesn't
start the car. Luckily the spare key works. 11 months and 8500 miles seems too
soon for a battery to die out. I tried some of the suggestions for other key fob
failures to no avail. Any advice appreciated other than dump the car, which I'd
love to. The worst car decision of my life.

Same here, mazda said it's a battery that operates the istop function/starter button etc. It needs to be replaced (it's not the normal car battery I believe) however they're quoting me $700-$800!?

That's insane! I hate these car fobs. Totally unnecessary and now ... unreliable and expensive.
