AC system to my 2003 Kia Spectra

Asked by sdbell72 May 02, 2010 at 08:21 PM about the 2003 Kia Spectra LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hope I picked the right trim.  I know it is a 2003, 4 door, regular sedan looking car.  Today my kia spectra decided to start blowing hot air when I turned on the ac. Does anyone know where I can check the freon or what else could be wrong? I really need to try to do this myself. I cannot afford a mechanic right now.

I recommend that you have your system diagnosed and serviced by an A/C professional for your kia spectra, it maybe that it simply needs to have the freon freshened up or I would think worst case would be a complete flush and replacement of the orifice filter cartridge.

sounds like you have a leak in your AC system, onley way to tell is to take it to a shop and have them vacume it down and see if it holds vacume,if it holds a vac you have no leak,if it looses vac you have a leak.if it has a leak could just be a line seal bad, this does not cost much(,we do a vac test for free)the most expensive thing is the R134A.

when you select hot too cold no change, does the the a/c comp. kick on ? if the comp kicks on its not the freon it the diverter door that switches from the heater core to a/c core is not moving check that
