Asked by Armando May 17, 2018 at 08:51 AM about the 2018 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey guys, new truck owner so I’m still new to
knowing my truck. Truck is 3 weeks old with 600
miles on it and I noticed this while I was installing
running boards that my rear differential has rust on
the front. 4x2 Any advice as to what it is??

Some parts under the vehicle tend to show signs of rust due to water splashing. My 2014 Ford F150 has the rust around the front of the differential, very similar to the one in yours. The first time I noticed was in 2015 and no problems have developed. If you really want to be sure, consult a mechanic, or take the truck to the Ford dealership, it is under factory warranty.

I work for a Ford dealer, they all look like that from pretty much day one. Only time I've seen that flange not rusted is when I pull it out of the box, lol. Your truck is fine
