what engine w/ transmission could fit in my 1979 chevy scottsdale

Asked by Weirdones178 Feb 23, 2020 at 09:44 PM about the 1979 Chevrolet C/K 10 Scottsdale

Question type: Car Customization

The engine that is currently in the truck is rusted in and out. I would like to
replace it instead of putting more money in to it. i would like to find a deisel to
put into it but i dont know if any will fit it without to much added work. If there is
no deisel i would like to put a 440 into it. But will it fit and is there a diesle out
there.

The 440 is a Dodge engine. What do you mean the engine is rusted out? This what usually happens to the frame and body. Any big block or small block Chevy engine of this era will work. A diesel swap is possible but it will be more costly. I would look for a 88 to 02 diesel donor truck.
