door sensor for interior light

interior light stays on after door is shut. stays on about 10 min then goes out. picked up a sensor at auto parts store, but mechanic asked which door. didn't specify at auto parts store. mechanic also mentioned latch assembly kit. vehicle is: 1999 ford ranger / 2 door / manual locks / regular cab,

try spraying the latch with wd40 or electrical cleaner first... if I am understanding you correctly that should do it.. hope this helps
