Gas

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just got home with the 1957 Pontiac Safari and parked it in the driveway.  Went to put it in the garage 20 minutes later, put it in park and the engine shut off before I could shut it off.  Would not start after unless I poured some gas in the carb to get her going.  Would this be the carb or the fuel pump that needs work?

Maybe it is flooded. Wait a couple of hours and try it again. You will need to check for spark and fuel. If the points closed up it will not run.

Just filled with ethanol free gas three days before. The car did start when it was parked in the driveway and I moved it about 20 feet to get it in the garage and while I was putting it in park it sputtered a little bit and just shut off before I could turn it off.
