how do you check the fluid level in the pumpkin of a 99 ford ranger

Take the plug out then use your little finger to the first joint and bend it down, if it touches fluid it's full. Most shops have a pump and just pump in enough fluid until it just starts to drip out.

Good advice GA. If you find it needs lubricant be sure to add the mfr's recommended type and viscosity.

rear one is located on front of the axle on drivers side . front axle on the rear of the front axle on drivers side
