4wd 99 Ranger alignment issues.

Asked by LilBoboOfAVL Jan 31, 2007 at 09:48 AM about the 1999 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to get front wheels aligned, have replaced lower dr. side ball joint but now have to install a set of camber adusters to the upper control arm, please help so i don't end up ruining parts just replaced. What needs to be disconnected to make the job the easiest possible. I know the torsion bar mount at the aduster must be disconnected to remove tension, but can the upper control arm mounts be unbolted just after doing that or must the lower arm be removed as well?
Thanks

Hi lilbob! You sound like you are a little beyond the Chilton's manual stage and you know your stuff, but if you don't have one for your Ranger you may be missing out on the the information you are looking for. The Chilton's will usually provide the quickest and easiest procedures in these instances and the sequences that make the most sense. It will probably help you come up with the best plan of attack. I'm pretty certain your local library will have a copy of the Chilton's for your Ranger but you'll probably want to purchase one at your local book store or parts place. Failing that you'll easily find a copy to order on ebay or amazon.com. Good luck!
