I HAVE A 1996 JEEP CHEROKEE THAT STARTS UP FINE WHEN YOU FIRST CRANK IT UP AND AFTER YOU DRIVE IT FOR AWHILE AND THEN SHUT IT OFF IT WILL NOT CRANK BACK UP FOR AWHILE

After the fuel filrer change, check the fuel pump pressure...

You have a fuel rail and on this fuel rail there is a fitting that looks somewhat like a bicycle fitting, there you will put a gauge on to read the fuel pressure. If you don't have gauge you can purchase a inexpensive one from Harbor Freight...
