Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HVAC motor only works on high. Replaced the switch, switch harness, resistor block twice, and fan motor. When I replace the resistor block it works for a week or so and then quits again. What's up?

I went threw 5 resistors until I got one to work. I suggest buying an OEM resistor.

resistor burns out because fan had too much resistance, try turning by hand, it should turn really easy

I installed a brand new fan motor. When looking at the resistor block I can't see a problem with it. It looks like new.

Yea, it would. Like I say I went threw 5 resistors. Should get an OEM part.

Thanks for the answers. The cheap resistors were my suspicion all along, but it's good to hear it from someone else. I went back to the parts store and traded for their lifetime warranty part. If it fails I'll go to the dealer...ugh!
