Brake lights stay on after replacing the brake light switch

Asked by Shaun Dec 10, 2016 at 02:39 PM about the 1990 Honda Accord Coupe LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed the brake light switch because the
brakes were staying on. Figure it was just the
switch but I was wondering if it could be a
grounding issue to the lights. It's an 90 accord with
a leaky trunk.

Check to be sure the switch couldn't have been mounted improperly (like upside down or not properly seated before being tightened into place), if all is ok, it most definitely could be a ground problem especially since most Accords I have dealt with from 84 thru 2000 have the same crappy leaky trunks! Good luck.

Yes grounding out some place in the trunck area .Honda Civic did that too & it was a ground wire touching the frame someplace kkgood luck !
