98 jeep cherokee

Asked by Kylping Nov 01, 2018 at 09:23 PM about the 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4-Door RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my 98 jeep Cherokee wasn't blowing any heat when I
bought it from this guy. I replaced the  blower motor. But it
still won't spin. The blower fuse looks fine but I'll still
probably replace that too to be on the safe side. Tho the
flap under the passenger dash stays closed also. And why I
turn the heat dial on the dash all the way up and the fan up
to 3 or 4, nothing comes out or spins but the belt squeals.

There is no electrical problem if you can hear the heater motor running. But it does not run on a belt. It is direct drive round blower cage on the heater motor's shaft. There is an allen screw that fastens it to the shaft and this probably has worked loose. Not sure how you can get to tighten it up but that's what it sounds like.
