I have a 99 mustang and i need to know engine compatibility

Asked by YgFastone Jul 03, 2013 at 12:25 AM about the 1999 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 99 mustang is about to throw a rod or I think maybe the head might be warped. I would like to go for a full drop in swap, Its a 3.8L v6 the car is still running but I just have it parked.  I just need to know what other years I could pull an engine from, I heard something about a splitport swap but I have no idea what that is and im new to the car game, I cant find a 99 engine anywhere any help or comments would be great. thank you.

I wonder if the 3.8L is as universal as the 3.0L was. I do know that some of the 3.8L (Lincoln I think) had a counter-rotating shaft under the intake but that was usually the only difference.
