Worth keeping or not?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with 175k miles.  I've
been debating between fixing the body up and a
few other small repairs or if it's time I move on.

At 21 years old and 175,000 miles to it's credit this vehicle is in the twilight of it's life. I might consider keeping it as a second vehicle until something major goes wrong with it. But I wouldn't put a lot of money in it. If the body is rusted out to the point where the vehicle is not safe anymore, I'd definitely move on. If the repairs will cost in the neighborhood of say more than $750 I personally wouldn't bother with fixing it. For example, my second vehicle is a 2003 S10 Pick Up with 297,000 miles on it. Right now it runs and drives great. But if something major goes wrong with it, it's gone! Hope that helps! Jim
