I have a 1964 Fairlane 500 Sedan with the original V8 260 and 2-speed Fordomatic trans. I want to upgrade just the transmission to a 1964 c4, with a 5 bolt bell housing to match the motor. Knowing the issues with the '64 model year, is this realistic. I'm rebuilding the V8260 to keep at least the motor original. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks! 7 Answers
In '65 the V8 260 was dropped, as was the 2speed Fordomatic. So I'm looking for something VERY specific so that I don't have to use a modified 6bolt bell housing c4.

I have a 63 fairlane 500. It has a 260 v8 with a ford-o-matic transmission. I was wanting to change to a c4 transmission but I was told that I would have to get a trany from that generation motor because the bolt pattern is different. Is that true? If so can I buy a bell housing that will work? 1 Answer
