Can I modify a 2000 wrangler to fit the 18" wheels and tires from a 2014 wrangler unlimited?

Asked by B25b17 Jan 14, 2015 at 12:55 PM about the 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question type: Car Customization

Other than buying the wheel adapters to adjust the 5x4.5 lug pattern to 5x5, what else do
I need to do to make the 18" rims/tires fit the 2000. I've read the max tire size for a 2000
wrangler is 255/60/R17 and the new tires are 255/70R18. Do I need lift the jeep to meet
the larger tires/wheels?

The wheels will fit with the adapters. You might rub a bit if you make a really tight turn, but other than that they will be fine for driving on the road and mild off-roading. If you plan on doing serious off-roading, I would recommend a small lift for the clearance for articulation.
