i have a 2002 jeep liberty sport and the front tires seem to be engaged while in 2wd is this normal or is something wrong

i was at a stop light while it was raining and when i took off the front tires seemed to spin.

I think this is normal,you have anti slip deferencial,if back tire,s loose grip the front tire,s will lock in automaticaly.
