Rattle/knock noise

Asked by Slocumle Oct 07, 2019 at 10:03 AM about the 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My noise is coming from under the car . It
knocks at start and quiets but is faint when
you step on the gas . I know I am due for an
oil change . It just started on this past
Saturday , drove it back home and it’s been
sitting here since . Don’t want to drive it with
the noise because just put a lot of money into
and new tires for the winter, now this . Any
suggestions where to start ? It’s like a
rattle/knock at the back bottom of engine . It’s
a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7l v6 4x4 with
133,000 miles !

Check out the heat shields on your catalytic converters/ exhaust system. They fooled me once... thought I had a torque converter going bad...
